Imagine an ensemble unfettered by the constraints of day-to-day concert routine – an ensemble where the musical experience takes center stage...

We did so and founded PhilKlang Wien.

PhilKlang Wien does not consider itself an octet in the classical sense but an association of outstanding young musicians who wish to offer the public a multi-faceted repertoire by way of alternating instrumental combinations.

This flexibility allows PhilKlang Wien either to create thematically focussed programs or to cover a vast range of different musical epochs and styles.

The members of PhilKlang Wien hold responsible positions in Austria’s leading orchestras and have a great deal of experience as soloists and chamber musicians – a testimony to their high professional ethos.

Why PhilKlang (germ. “Klang“ =“sound“)?
The “Love of Sound“ with its magical and manifold possibilities – this is what fuels the eight musicians and inspires them in the pursuit  of their ambition: the first-rate performance of classical masterworks, canonized or otherwise, with dedication and passionate abandon.
